so often we sit back on new years day or the days leading up to it thinking what is my resolution going to be this year...or maybe you don't really think about it but are asked the question enough times you are forced to think about it so that you have some answer for the next time you are asked.
I read this the other day it caught my eye and it was totally facebook status worthy so you may have seen it there but here it is again: "every year you make a resolution to change yourself. This year how about you make your resolution to BE yourself".
It is the truest of statements I think. Every year you make a resolution and it could be anything from going to the gym more, to being a better person, to being more understanding, to eating better, to having a larger bank account, whatever it is, it usually is some goal that in turn will change you.
I am not saying these goals are not good, they are if you see something in you that you feel needs to change, then work on changing it..but really you don't have to make these changes just at new years..you should be making attainable resolutions all year long. But that is a whole other rant.
Why make a resolution to change yourself. Why not make the resolution to BE yourself, to work at being yourself. Don't work on making yourself what you think the people around you want you to be but work on you, working on getting to know you, working on sharing who you are with the world, work on being you!
What would this world be like if everyone in it lived as themselves? lived out their convictions, lived out love, lived who they are and who they are intended to be instead of living the way which someone somewhere told them they should be living? What would it be like if we all lived as ourselves..you know that self that only gets out when you are in an intimate safe group of friends, where you let lose and you are yourself not trying to impress anybody else but you, not trying to be on your best behavior or whatever it is you try to be.
What would it be like if you were just you? I have said it before and I will say it again....I like you when you are just you! I like you more when you are who you are and not who you think the people around you want you to be!
